Stop Talking About It…
That’s right you need to stop talking about it and start taking more action.
As soon as you read that sentence, I am sure the voices in your head may have just got 100x louder. That’s ok. Acknowledge them and tell them to “Shut the hell up, because it’s time to get to work”.
You may have heard of the saying “Be, Do, Have”
Well many people get lost in the “Be” aka the talking about it. The talking about what you are going to do when…
- What you will do when you get funding.
- What you will do when you learn to code.
- What you will do when you finish school.
- What you will do when you finish your book.
- Talking about writing your book, instead of writing your book.
- Talking about your app instead of coding your app.
- Talking about your business, instead of focusing on sales.
- Talk, talk, talk.
Stop it.
There is one thing you are doing right now that is preventing you from having the success you want, and it is talking about it. The more you talk about it, the more you are talking yourself out of taking action. It is a mental thing. You think you are helping yourself, however you are letting yourself think that talking about the task is actually helping you get it done.
If you just shut up and take action, you would then really have something to talk about. Plus people would speak about you with increased respect and credibility all because you have something to speak about.
You need to take action.
It does not matter how small the action is that you take. But that action builds momentum and excitement.
Do you want to hang around people who are talking a good game?
Or the real players that are getting stuff done and taking action. You will find that these people speak less publically and just take action. People talk about them because they are getting stuff done.
The real players who are grinding day in and day out, don’t care about being spoken about because they are playing their own game. They are starting movements, building profitable companies and experience a level of life that is only open to the 1%.
These people have the life, success, business you want and you would never know because they are not talking about it. They are busy getting things done and that is more valuable to them, then talking about it.
Surround yourself with people who do not accept the talk and challenge you to produce results. The action is more valuable than the talk, regardless of how small the action is.
I was talking to a Veteran friend of mine and he says he maps his business out by 5 yard and 10 yard markers. What are the next 5 steps or how can I get 5 yards closer to my goal? How do I get 10 yards closer today than I was yesterday?
These are great questions and if you apply them to your life will transform how you speak.
It is better to talk about what is working, and what’s not working and how you can improve the action you are taking. Rather than talking about the action you want to take, and never taking it.
I believe the phrase should be “Do, Be, Have”.
Why?
Because if all you focus on is the “Do” and the action you are taking, you will “be” the person you want to “be” and “have” what you want to “have”.
Yet, there are far too many speaking about the “be” the faking it till you make it. This gets old fast and there is nothing worse than sitting there realizing you have wasted your most valuable asset talking about it. When you realize that it would have taken you 1/2 the time to complete the task than the time to date spent talking about it.
If you are ready for a change in your life let go the the “be” and start focusing on the “do”.
If you focus your team on 100% action you will be amazed at the results you can generate in an extremely short period of time.
The “do” is always more powerful than the “be” and it is the only thing that results in you having what you want.
Today’s the day you have a choice.
Speak about it or Do something about it.
The choice is yours and no one really cares what you do. You will fit into the crowd regardless of the choice you make. All I can say is that one crowd is respected significantly more that the other. One crowd has a better life than the other and it is all because instead of talking they got focused on the grind and took action.
