Creating Content Does Not Mean Content Engagement
If your social media posts determined your conversation skills most people suck!
That’s right I said it.
Why do people suck at creating conversations?
Your social media posts are weak if they are not creating engagement.
Just because you are creating content doesn’t mean that people are engaging with it.
3 Strategies to increase engagement and grow your audience.
Social media is an interesting beast and most people fail to understand there are two elements of social media platforms.
1. The Platform “AI” rules.
2. Your Audience.
Platforms are not incentivized to share good content.
Platforms are incentivized to share engaging content.
Good content may not pay the platform as well as funny, brain-numbing content.
Platforms monetize based on advertising.
This means they want eyeballs on their site and more of them.
More eyeballs mean higher CPMs (which is ad revenue.)
But your good content won’t build an audience by itself without you focusing on engagement.

How do you build an audience?
1. Get people to engage with your content.
People need to be either:
Like your posts
Comment on your posts.
Share your posts.
Getting people to stop scrolling is not enough.
We’ve seen from when platforms share their outsource code that there is a points system for how users interact with your content.
This engagement pushes content to the top of the platform.
Because when people engage in your content they are increasing time on site.
Increasing time on-site increases ad revenue.
Therefore ask people to comment on your posts, then reply to their comments.
Make sure your posts are comment-worthy!

2. Express an Opinion
Just because you are sharing fluffy quotes does not mean you are going to get engagement.
Express an opinion and have people take a position.
This is how you stimulate conversations.
If your conversation skills determined the quality of social media influence. Most people would have boring dinner parties.
Provide space to create engagement and stimulate conversation.

3. Reply to Comments
Attract eyeballs by commenting on other people’s comments.
But when you comment provide value and create conversations on others’ posts.
This brings the engagement from other’s posts to your posts because people see you provide value.
One of the things you can do is reference your posts in your comments on other posts. I always like to do this as a secondary comment on others’ posts.
This might sound complicated.
But I’ve recently created an AI that will help you create this audience engagement via comment interactions.
I’ve simplified the process of being able to:
1. Find comments to engage with.
2. Respond to comments faster.
3. Publish these replies with a focus on stimulating engagement.
